FAQs

Details for your Best. Ceremony. Ever.

What's the difference between your three wedding services?

Great question! I offer three ways to get married, depending on the experience you’re looking for.

Signature Unboring!Wedding Ceremony ($999+) is the whole experience. We collaborate on a completely personalized ceremony, including your love story, a ceremony planning session, unlimited script revisions, and a full rehearsal. This is the wedding experience you’ve seen in my photos and videos!

Boring-But-Lovely Ceremony ($499) is for couples who want a short, sweet, professionally delivered wedding ceremony without all the preparation. We skip the questionnaires, workshop, love story, and rehearsal. You get a lovely 10-minute ceremony with vows, rings (if you like), and your big married kiss!

Sign-And-Go Marriage Service ($249) is for couples who simply want to make their marriage legal. No ceremony, no vows, no speeches. Just the two of you, two adult witnesses, and the marriage paperwork.

You can explore all three options on my Officiating Packages page.

I see a lot of laughing in your pictures, do you tell a lot of jokes, Mark?

Nope! In fact, you’ll notice I never use the word “jokes” when describing what I do.

There’s an important difference between humour and telling jokes. I steer clear of the tired wedding jokes that could be told about any couple, anywhere. And gender-based or honeymoon jokes? No thanks.

With my Signature Unboring!Wedding Ceremony, the humour comes from your own love story: your first impressions of each other, your first date, that wonderfully awkward moment, or your proposal. The funny stuff is already there. I just help bring it out!

That’s what you’re seeing in those photos: couples and guests laughing at the real, funny moments that make their story uniquely theirs in their Signature Unboring!Wedding Ceremony.

My Boring-But-Lovely Ceremony is warm and friendly, but doesn’t include personalized storytelling. And Sign-And-Go skips the ceremony entirely!

Are you actually aware that your fee is much higher than other officiants?

Yep! And for years, that was a fair question because I offered only one service: a completely personalized wedding ceremony.

My Signature Unboring!Wedding Ceremony is still that premium experience. You’re not simply hiring someone to show up and read a wedding script. We’re creating your ceremony together, from the first conversation and wedding workshop to your completely personalized script, love story, revisions, rehearsal, and wedding day.

That takes a considerable investment of time, preparation, and creativity, and it’s reflected in the price.

But I’ve also learned that not every couple wants all of that!

That’s why I offer the Boring-But-Lovely Ceremony for couples who want something simple and sweet, and Sign-And-Go for couples who just want the legal paperwork taken care of.

Three very different services, three different prices. You choose how much wedding you want!

How far will you travel for my wedding?

That depends on which service you choose!

For my Signature Unboring!Wedding Ceremony, I serve St. Andrews, Charlotte County, Saint John, and Fredericton, with pricing based on the region. Travel to both your rehearsal and wedding is included in the quoted price.

My Boring-But-Lovely Ceremony is available throughout St. Andrews and Charlotte County, with travel included.

My Sign-And-Go Marriage Service is available by appointment at an agreed-upon location in the St. Stephen area.

You can see the service areas and prices on each package page. If you’re unsure whether your location is covered, just ask!

What if you’re sick on the the day of our wedding and can’t do it?

Fortunately, this has never happened!

But I have a network of licensed, experienced officiant colleagues I can call upon if something unexpected prevents me from being there.

For Signature Unboring!Wedding couples, your ceremony will already be completely written and approved, so a replacement officiant would have everything needed to deliver the ceremony we’ve created together.

For Boring-But-Lovely and Sign-And-Go, the arrangements are simpler, and I’d do everything I could to arrange a qualified replacement.

Of course, I take my commitment to your wedding seriously. I wouldn’t leave you scrambling if something happened to me!

What if our venue doesn’t allow for a rehearsal?

If you’ve booked my Signature Unboring!Wedding Ceremony, don’t worry! A full rehearsal is included, and we don’t necessarily need access to your actual ceremony venue.

All we need is a space where we can imagine a front area, practise walking down an aisle, and work out where everyone will stand.

I’ve done rehearsals in parks, living rooms, condo party rooms, and even restaurants!

The important thing is that everyone knows what they’re doing and feels relaxed when the wedding day arrives.

For my Boring-But-Lovely Ceremony, rehearsals aren’t included or necessary. And Sign-And-Go doesn’t involve a ceremony at all, so there’s nothing to rehearse!

Can we customize the Boring-But-Lovely Ceremony?

The beauty of Boring-But-Lovely is that there’s very little for you to do!

I’ll deliver a warm, lovely, ready-to-go ceremony that includes all the essentials: opening remarks, vows, an optional ring exchange, pronouncement, and your married kiss.

We’ll have a brief consultation to confirm the important details, but there are no questionnaires, planning meetings, personalized love stories, or script revisions.

If you’d like to collaborate on the wording, include your own story, or have more control over the ceremony, that’s exactly what my Signature Unboring!Wedding Ceremony is designed for.

How does payment work?

Once you’ve enquired about your date and we’ve confirmed which service is right for you, I’ll send you the booking details and a secure online payment link.

You can pay by credit card.

For my Signature Unboring!Wedding Ceremony, I take a 50% non-refundable booking retainer to reserve your date, with the remaining 50% due two weeks before your wedding.

For Boring-But-Lovely and Sign-And-Go, I’ll confirm the payment arrangements when you book.

Everything will be explained before you commit, so you’ll know exactly what you’re paying and when.
